What a week!!...

...but I survived it intact. Friday, my second full day in the office, we had a storm blow in with 40 MPH wind (60+ up on the pass) and snow which led to every road into or out of the valley being closed. Around 11 am the phone went crazy because everyone who was stuck wanted a room. I took 11 reservations (every room we had empty) in about thirty minutes! It was nuts!! In addition to handling two phone lines and getting the info I had to keep housekeeping over so they could get the rooms ready, then because the people were afraid the rooms wouldn't be there they started showing up so I was dealing with them as well. Oh yeah plus I had to chase the cooks down and up the dinner count by 25 after they had prepped for it already. Just a bonkers day. Happily all of the paperwork was correct which was great and I think we will get some repeat guests out of it which would be great as well. Definitely baptism by fire. The good part of it though is now I feel if I can handle that I can definitely get the hang of the office. The rest of the week has been good. Starting to learn my way around the computer and figure out where stuff goes. The boss has already gotten good feedback from a couple of guests so I'm happy. Worked today from 1:30 pm to 9:30 pm so I slept in this morning then went skiing for about two and a half hours before work. Probably going to do the same tomorrow if the legs feel like it. Rough rough life but I manage to get by. No other news to report so I will go now. Hard to believe it's almost March! Time does fly. Take care, Jim
