Somewhere on the road less traveled

I am a 34 year old who recently retired, sold my home and possessions and bought an RV so I can travel America. Please come along on my adventure by following me here. Enjoy.

It's time to...

...hit the road once again. I have been trying for a couple of days to post an update with some pictures from the cruise but apparently the site is having some difficulties uploading photos. I am forced therefore to simply write about it. We left Friday the 21st from Miami on Majesty of the Seas. Because it was only a three day cruise time to party was at a premium so we got to the port early and were actually on the ship at 11:30 am. This gave us the opportunity to explore all around the ship and begin relaxing prior to leaving port around 5:30 pm. Saturday was spent on Coco Cay which is private island the cruise line owns. It was a gorgeous sunny day which we all took advantage of and got sunburned. Very relaxing though to spend the day floating around on a raft, sipping a frozen drink or in a hammock under the palm trees, sipping a frozen drink or walking through white powdery sand to get a frozen drink. The ship staff cooks up a huge beach barbeque lunch which was delicious and it is a really nice way to spend a day. Oh yeah they sell frozen drinks as well. Sunday was in Nassau, Bahamas but the weather was really rainy and the power actually went out where we were but the girls got to do some purse shopping so the day was not lost. Monday the cruise ended but since we were in Miami we had decided to go to Key West for a couple of days so down the keys we went. Got to see a sunset in Mallory Square along with the show that goes along with it. Very interesting. Did some bar hopping on Duval street till the wee hours and for the most part had fun. I wanted to rent wave runners so Tuesday afternoon we did that for an hour and had a lot of fun. I had a couple of good wrecks, only lost my shorts on one though so it was all good. All in all it was a pretty good trip and even though it was a short cruise it was my fifth in five years and better than no cruise at all. I have spent the rest of the week doing some maintenance on the truck and the camper as well as laundry and banking and mail and running here and there to see friends so it has flown by. Hard to believe two weeks went so fast. I am planning on heading west from here, most likely midwest. I am thinking of doing the upper penninsula of Michigan over into Wisconsin and Minnesota but not sure what route I'm taking to get there. Or I could go completely somewhere else, I don't know! That's the fun of it. I have to be back here around the 20th of September for my next orthodontist appointment but I am planning on flying in so it will be a short visit. I may fly out of Omaha, Nebraska because I've never been there, and Southwest flies out of there and I have a ticket I need to use before it goes away. In looking at the airports where I could hop one of their planes I'd rather go to Nebraska than Chicago or Detroit so we'll see. Anyway that is way to far down the road to even be worried about it now. It will all work out. I have had a great time visiting with friends and family and hope you all enjoyed seeing me. Hopefully the blogger site fixes their issues quickly and I will get some pics up for you all. Time to start checking in again on a regular basis because I am once again-somewhere on the road less traveled. Jim
