Opening day at Winter Park...

...and it was great!! Well today was my first day of skiing this winter and I had a blast. The resort opened for business and the weather was gorgeous. They only had 4 lifts out of 25 running and only 7 trails out of 143 open but it was still awesome. My roomate Sean and I got in about six and a half hours worth of skiing/snow boarding and we are both whipped right now but so what. I bought myself some gear before I got up here and it worked really well so I am happy about that. The ski's I got will let me improve my skills and also be able to ski powder not just groomed trails. It was fun this morning because in addition to remebering how to ski in general I was learning how the new gear worked. Skiing is like riding a bike though I guess, just more trees to dodge, because it came back to me quickly. I definitely will be skiing myself into shape though because by early afternoon my quads and gluteus maximus were screaming! Sean was feeling it to so we decided since we have all season to call it a day at three. Quality over quanity is the theory. The picture above is at the top of a couple easy runs and the one below is about halfway down the only expert trail that was open today. It was quite a fun run and quite a workout. I don't know when I will be hitting the mountain again but there is supposed to be a storm coming through Saturday so hopefully it is a big one and more of the mountain will be open soon. Well that's all from here but I am having a great time and it will only get better as the winter goes on. Take care, Jim
