Been a hard week...
...but I am hanging in there. Thank you to everyone who had kind words and thoughts and prayers for Jim and his family. Please keep them in your prayers. His funeral is tomorrow and they are expecting 3,000 people there. Nothing can take away the pain for his family but to see all that support will have to be good for them. I have really experienced a ton of emotions this week. So many friends have been deployed since the war started and I knew on one level that any one of them could maybe not come back, but to actually get the news that one had been killed really rocked me. This week it was really hard to concentrate on work or have my heart in it. It just didn't seem important. Then when I would think about it I would just get so angry. Still am to be honest. Jim was at a checkpoint delivering food and water to some soldiers and stopped to play with some kids. He wasn't out on a mission looking for bad guys, he wasn't stopping a terrorist from blowing something up, he was handing candy to kids and for that some scumbag thought he should die. Why?? It's just so wrong. Something I will never understand. ...I did manage to get some time to mess witht my new camera this week. The picture here I took last night just messing around with some different settings and such. It was almost dark outside but I think the picture is cool. I have a ton to learn about the the new system but I am trying to do it a little at a time so it is fun. I am going to order a backpack that is made to carry this type of camera system and a tripod so I will be able to take it with me skiing and start doing some hiking as well. It snowed here from Tuesday night through Friday so it was quite a week weather wise. One morning, I think it was Wednesday, it was 16 below when I went out in the morning to clean the snow off the deck. Little bit chilly. Jenna, the nanny, and I spent today at the mountain and it was beautiful. High twenties, no clouds or wind and very sunny. She is a snowboarder but we spent the day really tearing up the mountain and it was a great day. The weather was just great and all the new snow made the riding just amazing. A lot of new terrain was open but still almost two thirds of the mountain isn't open. It blows my mind to think about how much I still have to enjoy. I am so blessed to have this opportunity. Going to run now though but hope you all have a great week. Take care, Jim
