Had some flurries in Winter Park...
...over night. This is what I woke up to this morning and by the time it quit snowing about 1 pm there were 18 inches on the ground. It was so gorgeous though with all the snow in the evergreens and just the quiet and stillness that go with so much snow. It was cold according to the thermometer but it did not feel like it was and there was no wind so it was nice. The reason I was in Winter Park was because during the day Wednesday I got a call from the lady I had spoken with last week and she was calling my references that day and wanted to offer me a position. When she found out my plans and that I was going to be in Denver Friday she asked if there was any way I could come up and meet with her. Of course I said I could be there Thursday and so off I went. We had a real good meeting today and at this point I will be spending the winter in Winter Park, Colorado and living and working at Woodspur Lodge. In addition to room they will feed me twice a day, buy me a season lift ticket to the mountains, pay me a monthly salary and I will get a tip share at the end of the season. I will be working a split shift so I may have time to ski every day and I will have one day a week completely off. My job will be to shuttle guests to the mountain each morning, take care of the hot tubs, keep the walkways clear, vacuuming the lobby and hallways, keep the fireplaces going, and bringing guests back to the lodge in the afternoon. Then after dinner take out trash. There will be 3 of us responsible for these duties so the faster we get done each morning the more time on the mountain. I am very pumped to say the least. Especially after seeing all that snow today and seeing the mountain and the ski runs just sitting there. The mountain opens November 15th I believe and I will be reporting for duty a week or week and a half prior to that. Below is a picture of the lodge thru the trees from the bottom of the driveway.
I am at Denver airport now hoping to be on a plane in the morning. I checked in already and just have to pack and then check one bag in the morning. Hard to believe I will be in Florida tomorrow after being in a blizzard today. Very surreal. Take care for now though and hopefully I will be back in Sarasota tomorrow night. Jim
