Yesterday was...
...one year since I left Florida and started the trip of a lifetime. Hard to believe a year has gone by already! It has truly been an amazing journey though and I have had so much fun. From catching up with old friends along the way, and meeting new folks as well. Wandering around unbelievably beautiful state and national parks. Getting lost, breaking down, hitch hiking, beet harvest, motel on fire, flying to Florida every 8 to 12 weeks for orthodontist appointments, discovering a talent I did not know I had, sailing in Nova Scotia, spending a winter skiing in Colorado. From the Outer Banks to upstate New York, Nova Scotia to Arkansas, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to the Gettysburg battlefields. The Mall of America, Cape Hatteras light and the OCC shop in New York. So many places in between. It is hard to believe sometimes how lucky I am. There are still places I plan to go and things I want to see but for now I am enjoying being here in Winter Park and putting some money in the bank. I will be back out on the road though when I am done here. I want to thank everyone who has followed along on my trip. The support has been amazing and I truly do appreciate the thoughts and comments. People ask me what my favorite place or experience has been and I honestly have trouble answering. The whole trip has been more than I ever imagined it to be. As I have said to friends from the beginning it was never about the destination, it was about the journey and I think that remains true. At the one year mark I can honestly say I am happy. Happy! Who knows what the next year has in store or where I will wind up but I hope you will follow along. It might be smooth, it might be bumpy. It may go in circles or straight ahead but it will be the road less traveled. Jim

True this was not about the destination, however, since you found this little nitch you are in you seem to be happier than you have been in a long time! the longer you have been there the more you seem to be enjoying life! so it seems to me that this journey was about finding that destination, the destination of being happy, and for now this does seem to be that destination. Happy one awesome year! You are among the few who know their mind, follow their heart, and live their dream...you have never looked happier than you have since taking the road less traveled and I shall always treasure that. I'm proud to be your mom.
I'm hoping this is the same Jim I knew in the Army. I'm guessing this might be a long shot but here we go, I'm going to throw a unit name out there. 759th MP BN/59th MP CO. If this is the same guy, look me up at baxter_pk@yahoo.com
because I know you and remember some good times.
